4 It Was Filmed In The Same Town As Woodbury Though it may seem like the Walking Dead survivors have traveled far away from Woodbury, in reality, this is anything but the case. Alexandria is actually filmed in Senoia, Georgia, the same neighborhood and town as Woodbury.
Is Alexandria in The Walking Dead a real place?
The Safe-Zone is one walled-off neighborhood inside Alexandria, though it’s not totally clear which part of the town it actually is encompassing. In reality, Alexandria is filmed on the historic Gin Property in Senoia, GA.

The comic actually states Alexandria is 20 miles away from The Hilltop, placing it more in Maryland. The Sanctuary is supposed to be set somewhere in the metropolitan area of Washington, so roughly 10 to 12 miles away from Alexandria, and apparently 85 miles away from The Hilltop, which makes zero sense.

The compound is attacked by Carol in an attempt to free her friends after witnessing them being dragged out of a train car to be slaughtered. She explodes a large tank of flammable gas and allows a large herd of walkers to enter. The walkers overrun Terminus and many of the residents are killed.
